Oldest man spurns booze, butts
He doesn't drink. He doesn't smoke. And he doesn't eat much meat. Japanese farmer Tomoji Tanabe turned 113 last week, becoming the world's oldest man, according to the Guinness Book of Records, says Peter Alford in The Australian. Tanabe has 25 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. "He has very strong discipline and does not give in to what he doesn't like or believe," his son Motouri told the paper. He has never touched alcohol and eats healthily. "Here is his recipe for living long: rice, miso soup and a small bottle of milk daily; fish, bananas and pickled vegetables as often as you like," Alford writes. Tanabe weighs less than 50 kilograms and is only 145 centimetres tall. He plans on living for another 10 years. he told the paper.
